New Brunswick Line Schedule Effective July 16

A new schedule for the Brunswick Line takes effect this Monday, July 16, and copies are available at MARC Train stations. On the link there is also a chart that compares the previous and new schedules side-by-side. Staff from MARC Train has spent the past eight months reaching out to customers presenting two draft schedules before finalizing the changes and after 90-120 days of real-time operational experience, we will adjust the schedules as needed.

Update on Construction Projects

The MTA continues to invest in upgrading MARC Train facilities. Construction of a new station building and other ADA improvements are now in progress at the Edgewood Station. These improvements will provide full accessibility for individuals with disabilities, as well as a climate-controlled building with a ticket machine and restroom. On the Penn Line, construction moves forward at Halethorpe Station, where two 800-foot long, high-level platforms are under construction. Also included in this project are enclosed staircases, two elevators and an overhead pedestrian walkway over the tracks. Construction is expected to be completed sometime in November.

New Bi-level Cars are Coming

Representatives from MARC Train recently visited Bombardier railcar manufacturing plant in Quebec to meet with Bombardier staff and review progress on our order for 54 new bi-level railcars. The cars are similar to our existing bi-level ones, but include many additional features, including electrical outlets at each seat and larger restrooms. Most of the assembly work on the cars will be conducted in Plattsburg, NY with an estimated delivery of the first cars scheduled for April 2013.
